One big parallel between ATLA and LoK I noticed is in the relationships between Ozai and Iroh, and Noatok and Tarrlok.
Both brothers were originally for the same, evil causes. Ozai and Noatok were the ones in charge, while Iroh and Tarrlok did as they were told. Eventually, Iroh and Tarrlok realized the error of their brother’s ways, and then fought against them.
